It was the 24th stop of the “Reviravolta ao Mundo”. We continue the trip in Laos with some girls we had known since the trip from Thailand.
This city is known for the "tubing" where people go down the river on a tyre. And in the middle of the descent there are bars on the riverbank where people stop to party. It has various activities, lots of water, music and drinks.
From what we’ve read, before the "tubing" was not as controlled and there were many bars that use to sell alcohol, mushrooms and other drugs. After some fatalities the council has decided to control a little more and there was at only 3 bars working. It was really fun. We didn’t see drugs on the menus as people said it had before. The descent itself is to enjoy the scenery and relax. Sometimes we had to paddle because of the current was too weak.
In Vang Vieng we also went to see the "Blue Lagon" (Tham Poukham Cave) and waterfalls (Kaeng Nyui Waterfall). But it was not the rainy season so the waterfall was short volume.
