It was the 22th stop of the “Reviravolta ao Mundo”.
We only stopped in there because it was on the route of the tour by the Mekong River.
Pakbeng is actually a village. There is not much, only small hotels, restaurants and bars that seems to exist only because the tourists that overnight there, doing this travel by the river.
We arrived late afternoon and standing on the pier many people are waiting to offer a hotel for the tourists. We had already made a small group on the boat and so it was easier to negotiate hotel’s prices. There were almost the same in all the places, but of course if we’re 6 people it will be cheaper.
After negotiating the price, without even knowing where or how was the place. All the people going to the same hotel enter in the back of the small truck. We were taken to the place where we’re going to sleep. As the village is small, all hotels are near the pier. The hotel was pretty good.
Then we eat a very good grilled fish and meet the other people from the boat in the bar of the city :)
The first impression of Laos was positive.
