Koh Samui was the eighteenth stop the “Reviravolta ao Mundo”. After 21 days in India, we are looking for a quiet place to rest and we choose Koh Samui. In our first time in Thailand in 2010 we had gone to the Andaman Sea (West Coast), then we decided to go to Koh Samui this time to see the other side of Thai coast.
Koh Samui is the second largest island in Thailand. It has many sand beaches, for all tastes. Some more very busy, other for families, some only with expensive resorts, etc. We chose the beach Bo Phut because it seemed to us calm and with an interesting price. It was a right choice for us, because the beach was very quiet and had a good sea for bathing. Our hotel was standing in the sand we stayed few days doing nothing, just hanging out on the beach in front of the hotel and eating in the nearby Hotel tents.
After a few days relaxing, we decided to rent a scooter to discover the island. The island is not that big, around 60 km to surround it. So we just rode and stopped in every beach we found, some only to have a look and others to swim. We found amazing beaches and even some empty beaches where we had only the blue sea and us.
On our last day in Koh Samui we did a boat trip and we went to Koh Nang Yuan (near Koh Tao). It was another pleasant surprise and certainly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited.
The Thais East Coast (where is Koh Samui) is not as beautiful as the west coast, but worth the visit as it is gorgeous.
