Khajuraho was the fifteenth stop of "Reviravolta ao Mundo". Khajuraho is known as the city of the Kama Sutra temples, but there is no need to take the children away while reading the text. There are some positions of the Kama Sutra in the midst of so many other images that adorn the temples; you need to search to see.
We found some versions to explain the Kama Sutra images in the walls of the temples: one is that the dynasty in which the temples were built use to practice the Kama Sutra; another one is that the images are a fertility tribute.
Khajuraho is a city of 10,000 inhabitants. It is a tiny town in a country with billions people.
We stayed there two days and it was enough to visit the temples of the west side (inside the city) and southern side (further and went from autorickshaw).
The temples of the west side are the most beautiful and preserved. We chose not to take a guided tour and it was a shame because we didn’t know much of the history of the temples. The problem is that it was very hot in Khajuraho (even though winter) and we entered very late in the place to see the temples of the west side. That's why it didn't worth taking a guide that time. We would not have time to see everything with a guide explaining things.
India is such amazing country that reserve us this kind of surprises. How a conservative country may have temples with images of the Kama Sutra?
