Agra was the fourteenth stop of “Reviravolta ao Mundo”. Speaking about the city of Agra may seem strange, but speaking of Taj Mahal everyone will know. Agra is the city of the Taj Mahal. The train between Delhi and Agra takes 2 hours and as we wanted to avoid the crowd, we took the first train out of Delhi at 6 am and we arrived in Agra at 8am.

Surprisingly the train arrived on time in Agra (something difficult in India). We went straight to the long-awaited Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is about 6 km far from the train station (by autorickshaw). On the way, we noticed that Agra would not be one of the most beautiful cities we would visit.

We arrived at the Taj, we bought the tickets and at the time of entering, we were "stoped" because we couldn’t enter with backpacks. We had to go around throughout the complex to leave the backpacks in the cloakroom. After this tiny problem finally entered the complex.

Even though early, a crowd was already there. The complex has three main buildings (one of them a mosque) and it's all very large and well maintained. After walking a few meters, we come to the main entrance and at the bottom we had our first visual contact with the Taj Mahal. We walked some more and after passing through the crowd we were able to have our first full view. The place is beautiful, but.... let us down a bit :(. It might be because we created lot of expectations or because we have gone the day before the Akshardha temple in Delhi. For this one, it wasn’t in the plans and we’re very surprised. This does not mean we didn’t like, the place is fantastic and the visit worth it, but we got the feeling of "I want more."

After the Taj Mahal, also visited the Baby Taj and the Agra Fort before we left for the next stop of the “Reviravolta ao Mundo”.
