Doha - Qatar

Doha was the eighth stop of “Reviravolta ao Mundo”. Doha was not in our initial planning for the trip, but as we purchase Qatar Airways tickets for the route Egypt-Tanzania-India, we had to stop over Doha both in both legs Egypt and Tanzania. As we had few hours of connection in Doha, the airline offers hotel accommodation in the city centre and so we got to know the city a little bit.
We've been in Dubai and found the town a kind "artificial", with huge buildings “growing” from the sand. We thought that Doha would be the same thing. But Doha seemed to be a little less "artificial" and at least we saw many people walking on the street. The Souk (traditional market) was very nice and we ended up eating a nice grilled portion in a typical restaurant.
A funny thing happened in Doha. From our previous experience, the hotels paid by the airlines are the worst of the trip (for those with economy class tickets), but this time was different. As we are on a long trip, we are staying in simple hotels/hostels that fit our budget. Thus, the hotels we stayed in Doha were the best so far and we enjoy comfortable bed and hot shower. In Tanzania the only hot shower we had worked like a dropper, and was a Lorenzetti douche (a Brazilian brand for electrical douches).
Thanks Qatar Airways!
